A good read. I knew nothing about the Civil War when we arrived in Spain a few years ago. I’ve learnt a lot since. Not least because I’ve spent much of that time here in Cartagena, Murcia. Cartagena was one of the last rebel strongholds. It suffered greatly during and after the war. Franco never forgot its resistance. For your information, there is in fact an excellent museum here dedicated to the war. It’s built into what was the largest air raid shelter in the city. It focuses on the suffering of its population. Well worth a visit.
