With the app now available on Vizio smart TVs, TikTok’s dominance of the world continues.

A new app that appears directly on the Home Page is part of the upgrade that is now rolling out. As TikTok’s main competitors Samsung and LG already had the app when it initially debuted in North America back in November 2021, Vizio is a little delayed to offer it. On a larger screen and without the ability to record videos, TikTok TV is virtually the same as the smartphone app.

This launch is notable because Vizio TVs are renowned for being inexpensive. For a little under $300, you can buy a 43-inch 4K HDR TV from Vizio’s V-Series. Compared to Samsung 4K TVs, that is.

Even if it’s on sale, you’ll probably pay more than $400 for one.

With TikTok coming to Vizio TVs, more TV viewers will have access to this well-known app.

However, there is a catch. The app will be accessible on all Vizio TVs equipped with SmartCast, the manufacturer’s app platform, according to a company spokeswoman. If you’re unsure whether your TV supports SmartCast, you may find out by visiting the Vizio website, where you can search for your model. It will be listed on the product page.

The website states that all Vizio TVs manufactured in 2021 and later include SmartCast. This suggests that earlier models might not have the app platform and, as a result, no ability to access TikTok TV.

TikTok TV is much the same, save for the fact that it is accessible on inexpensive TVs. To watch videos from your customized feed on TikTok, connect your account to the Vizio display. For a continual stream of material, the app also has AutoPlay enabled.

You have to wonder what parent company ByteDance has in store for TikTok as it moves away from its mobile roots and onto new platforms.

There are only so many things you can do with the same content, but expanding to low-cost 4K TVs will likely increase their audience.

TikTok has therefore been experimenting with new ideas. The app increased the maximum video duration to 10 minutes back in February, possibly emulating YouTube. Additionally, according to sources from May, ByteDance is considering adding video games to its service. But these are rather straightforward mobile games, such as lane running and obstacle dodging. Even though it is quite random, it’s interesting to observe what TikTok is trying to encourage growth.
