This seminar was on the topic, “Food Safety and Defense: Key Factors to Safely Manufacture, Package and Handle Food Products”.

More details about the seminar can be had from http://www.globalcompliancepanel.com/control/globalseminars/~product_id=900443SEMINAR?food-safety-food-defence-San-Diego
The speaker explained a wide range of topics about food safety and defense, such as production types, facilities, and the transportation of goods. All the important aspects of the organization that need to be controlled for making sure that intentional contaminants do not enter the product and cause potential hazards and health threats were illustrated in detail.
Compliance with Food Defense requirements is an important prerequisite of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) of 2010 that President Obama signed into law on January 4, 2011. The requirements set out in this Act state and mandate the actions that the FDA must be taking in the area of Food Defense. Noncompliance attracts higher and higher penalties. The costs of oversights and recalls of food products can be quite high, because of which adherence to Food Defense requirements is an integral economic aspect of any organization. The Director emphasized these in great detail.
Participants, who included food manufacturers, packagers and handlers, were given understanding of the ideal ways by which to ensure Food Defense. This seminar helped them understand how to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, regardless of whether they are domestic or foreign entities. Apart from discussing the security and safety requirements of the FSMA; the Director highlighted the importance of ensuring Food Defense, and went on to explain what actions the FDA has taken of late in this area.
