Meet Akunorbea Richill Tamakloe Founder & CTO of Africanjober

Akunorbea Richill Tamakloe (Richill ARTLoe) originally an Investment & Private Banker turned Software Engineer is the Founder and CTO of AfricanJober, an innovative job portal that connects skilled, talented Africans to leading employers in an instant. AfricanJober is a recruitment and outsourcing platform with the aim to train & identify high-potential and skillful Africans in order to connect them to local and international top employers.
1] What is Africajobber and what’s your unfair advantage in this marketplace?
Africanjober is a career marketplace. The platform connects skilled individuals with leading employers in an instant using a direct and transparent online hiring approach. Our aim is to make the process of hiring talented africans faster, smarter & easier.
Our competitive advantage is, we use a match technology/algorithm which simplifies the search for talented individuals. This is our. innovative alternative to outdated methods, enabling smarter hiring for employers and putting the best people to work.

2.] What led you to this industry?
The increasing rate in unemployment in ghana/africa led me to this industry. i wanted to be a part in making a difference in ghana/africa by helping graduates be more employable, therefore, i decided to develop a platform that provided outsourcing opportunities to young educated africans who found it challenging in getting employment locally in their country.

3.] what motivates you to keep going despite all the barriers?
Contributing to finding. possible solutions to help decrease the increase rate of unemployment in ghana/africa is what motivates me. Above that, i have a huge passion for coding which drives me to code solutions for problems

4.] Is it true that you quit your job in finance and had to learn how to code?
Yes, i did quit my job in finance, in private banking in switzerland/geneva, in order to learn how to code. when i moved to work in Ghana, i became disheartened by the increase rate of unemployment amongst graduates. I was inspired to build an outsourcing platform but could not find a programmer with the same interest in wanting to develop a project such as africanjober. I therefore decided to learn how to code, which took a year, discovered i loved programming and built africanjober.com in 4months.

5.] Where do you see the company in 5 years time?
We envision africanjober.com in being one of the main go-to-sites to hire talented individual africans to work remotely or non-remotely on a job, on projects or tasks. In the long run, We aim to further refine our match technology to enable to the process of being hired much much faster, smarter and easier. Hired is a career marketplace for the world’s knowledge workers.

6.] What is the advice of all the people who are still hesitant of launching a business?
Just do it! launching a business is never easy, but it is better to have tried than to have never tried at all. Remember that, developing or building a business is a journey and not a marathon, so go through the journey learning and implementing as much as you can at a good pace.
I have also learnt from my experience that though the knowledge of coding helps, having a great team or surrounding yourself with a good network of advisers STRONGLY helps through the journey. Last but not least getting content feedback on the project, app from users also strongly helps.
Our mission is to help decrease unemployment amongst graduates in Africa (starting with western Africa) by making local and international job & outsourcing opportunities easily accessible and attainable. We identify and invest in the smartest, talented, skillful and innovative individuals in order to enable the process of being HIRED faster, smarter and easier.
