Why are you shouting? I can hear you…

Everybody has an opinion about something.

Everybody also assumes that you have to listen to them share these opinions.

I generally am not interested in a lot of opinions from humans. Yes, I am a human myself so maybe my own opinions shouldn’t be taken seriously.

That’s cool, as long as you don’t throw a hissy fit while doing so or having the same done to you.

I think we all need to come to that place where we realise having differing views on several issues is just fine. We don’t have to go to war because the guy down the street says he prefers Dubstep to your darling Jazz. He deserves the right to pick and choose as he pleases. You don’t have to invoke Big Brother’s rulebook to deal with him.

Yes, you have a 73 page .pdf file somewhere proving how wrong the other guy is but does it really do you any good if you try to “correct his errors” with your haughty approach?

If at all you want to “teach” him what it should be maybe an actual conversation would do the trick. Your high handed opera of screams is not the way to go.

We all have tons of knowledge stored up in our brains (well most of us do) but at the same time knowledge, and wisdom, is set up in such a way that there are blind spots. Think about teaching with grace and not hubris. Help and don’t attack.

Maybe I’m being a bit partial because I generally zone out once I am approached by the braggadocios. I genuinely don’t get why whatever you have to say to me must be delivered in the manner of Achilles before the arrow.

Flawed approach? Maybe it is, but just like Needtobreathe said “be more heart and less attack.”

P.S. I wrote all of this with my face in full view. I am as guilty of these sins as much as the next guy.
