I mean, in all seriousness, it’s tricky to cover all bases. Take me for instance. I have a hard time finding an Asian male character in books. One that is Vietnamese American like me no less.
In fact, it was not until the 10th grade that I came across a MAIN character who happened to be Vietnamese American as well. I was so enthralled at the fact that I probably liked the book a bit more because the protagonist had the same ethnicity as me.
This was the book.

I guess if I have to be honest about it — I am not particularly mad that there are not more Asian males depicted here in America in various things. I just accept it, but I think it is truly special when they pop up from time to time. It makes them extra significant.
At the end of the day, I would prefer for well-written characters, who happen to be a certain race/gender/whatever, shine for being great characters than anything else.
