Well, yes and no.
In a sense, I wouldn’t mind having more shows/books/whatever depicting more Asian (males) in general. There are actually plenty of depictions of Asian females in shows, books and whatnot. Granted, I perceive a lot of depictions of said Asian females as more of a fetish in a variety of cases. You can take the most average female character, and then they make her Asian and suddenly she gains a few exotic points. Apparently.
But I digress.
I actually would love to see more Asian males depicted, and preferably with more important roles. They don’t have to be the main characters all of the time. At least, not necessarily. I would like to see more of them, as I grew up not having many Asian male role models who were mainstream who weren’t people like Jackie Chan.
Because Asian male characters are so rare, again, I have to emphasize that their scarcity makes them more special to me as characters.

So, in a nutshell, would it be nice if more stories added more Asian males on a wider macro scale? Would throwing in more Asian males balance out the depiction diversity? Absolutely.
Still, I am not going to lose sleep over this. At the end of the day, I would rather have a strong, excellent and respectable character who happens to be of a certain race, gender, creed and so forth versus just having a mediocre-or-worse one who happens to fill out a token minority slot.
It should be about what is underneath the surface.
