Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. From your response it’s clear to me that you have a lot of experience here and what you said resonated with me immensely. I think a lack of substantive engagement with what I am making is a huge part of why I am unsatisfied — and social media definitely facilitates shallow engagement with content. Even the few longer responses I’ve received after writing this has really made me feel better, and it seems to be a part of the distinction between writing and photography that you laid out in your comment. Going forward I’m going to try and combine the two. That way I can still continue photography, but hopefully share it in a way that facilitates deeper engagement and discussion.
