Singapore — National Museum of Singapore, Singapore
Time to visit the National Museum of Singapore
February 2018
I lived in Malaysia for a few years, and it was only a short drive from the Singapore border. Despite visiting Singapore many times, I never visited the National Museum.
I had to pay $26 (Singaporean Dollars) to enter the museum. The fee included entrance to the special exhibitions, including the Witness to War exhibition about Singapore’s fall in 1942 during the Second World War.
One nice thing about the museum was that I could take photos, as long as I didn’t use a flash — a refreshingly sensible approach.
The front of the museum dates to 1887 and was designed by Colonial Engineer Henry McCallum from the Public Works Department.
The inside of the museum dome was quite spectacular.
When I visited the museum, the special exhibition was about the Second World War.
