A winter walk on the beach

After two and a half years living in Malaysia, and a six-week tour of SE Asia, it was great to be back in the UK for winter.

SE Asia Tour Summary — Six weeks on the road and eight countries

One weekend, I found myself in the Whitley Bay and North Shields area in Tyne and Wear, UK and had the opportunity for a winter walk along the coast.

I got the Metro from Newcastle to Whitley Bay and walked along the path at the top of the cliffs to Cullercoats, where I dropped down to walk along Long Sands Beach. A short walk, but on a winter’s day, quite spectacular. The wind off the North Sea was bracing! I had forgotten how bone-numbingly cold it could be.
