Corgis shall follow me all the days of my life

I loved Tasha Tudor’s illustrations when I was a child—they were realistic and detailed, with plenty of discoveries to be made if you had the time to pore over each page (like the spider in the corner of A Little Princess’s cover image), and she also cared enough to draw characters the way they were described in the books. But I’m pretty sure I also loved these illustrations because they were comforting. Everything was fireplaces and pretty dresses and cakes and dogs.
