It is glaring and evident that insecurity has been a major dare to the Nigerian government in recent times. The actions and activities of the Islamic sect known as Boko Haram had led to enormous loss of lives and properties in the country, particularly in the Northern part of Nigeria, and specifically Northeast.

Some of these activities include intimidation, bombings, suicide attacks, sporadic gunfire of unarmed blameless and innocent Nigerian citizens, burning of police stations and churches, kidnapping,and raping of school girls and women.

Nigeria has also been included among one of the terrorist countries of the world. This has serious implications for national development. Though government had made worried hard work to deal with these challenges masqueraded by terrorism and insecurity in the country, but the rate of insurgency and insecurity is still disturbing .

Boko Haram has done worst, and still doing the worst more than someone can emerging. Its attacks are devastating and barbaric in nature. Boko Haram conundrum is no more longer an individual or a community problem, rather a national problem.

National problem can better be tackled with the involvement of everybody, and so all hands must be on desk to see that the works of the extremists have been relegated.

The following have been suggested as the way forward;

  1. There is a need for more anti-terrorism activists in our respective societies to oppose the doctrine and preaching of extremists and educate citizens on the dangers of violent extremism in our polity.
  2. The government is advised to beef up security in the country to curb the treat of insecurity.
  3. Since is a national problem, every citizen should participate in curbing the activities of insurgents either directly or indirectly. Let us not shoulder all the responsibilities on government alone.
  4. Churches and mosques should not be used as a place for propagating and preaching hatred, but rather as a place for preaching peace,harmony and unity in diversity.
  5. Nigerian military should be empowered further with arms to wrestle insurgency.
  6. Various coalition should be formed to champion the cause of war against terrorism and violent extremism.

Lets join hands and do away with Violent Extremism using #NotAnotherNigerian #CVE @neieffellows
