SIXERS — Should we Panic?

Something about how the Sixers played the last two games in Toronto put a sour taste in my mouth. But with one of those games being a win with Joel Embiid’s buzzer beater, and then with the other one being only an 8 point loss, I was able to sleep well knowing Game 5 would be back in Philly. But it looks like half of the Sixers roster was still asleep last night, because HOLY SHIT. On Saturday, the Sixers were looking to sweep the Raptors, and now they’re only one game in front and on their way back to Toronto.

So, as Sixers fans, should we start panicking?

I feel like the cover of the panic button has definitely been lifted and we should have our hands hovering over the button at all times. But do I think we necessarily need to press the button? Not just yet.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t have anything to worry about. Watching how poorly the Sixers played last night, and then watching how the Celtics looked unstoppable against the Nets, I think it’s pretty safe to assume this may not be the year for the Sixers. Not only is our best player injured with a torn ligament, but he’s not getting any help. We should be looking for Maxey, Harden, or Harris to be able to put up 20/25 points in the playoffs. ESPECIALLY when Embiid is injured. And as much as I’ve enjoyed watching Danny Green catch and shoot the three ball, there should be no reason why he’s our most consistent shooter right now. I mean, we have JAMES FUCKING HARDEN ON OUR BASKETBALL TEAM.

Besides the offensive struggles, the team just sort of gave up playing defense in the second half. Embiid was in foul trouble pretty early in the 4th quarter, but Jesus Christ, we rolled out the red carpet to the hoop every time the Raptors drove to the paint. I seriously thought maybe it was a Make-A-Wish game and we were just going to let the Raptors score whenever they wanted. Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey shouldn’t be our best defenders, when we have guys like Thybulle.

Now we know that Toronto is going to be BOOMING on Thursday night, just like they were for Game 3. Hopefully it’ll add fuel to the fire that is lit under their asses, but I’m not convinced that they’ll even make it a close game until I see less turnovers and WAY better defense.

I’m sad. You’re sad. The city is sad. But let’s keep our head high and have a little brotherly belief in this team.
