To be honest, I haven’t watched the Stacey Dash video, but I got the gist of what she was saying based off of what I heard. I don’t agree with her in terms of getting rid of those things, I think they are needed. There is nothing wrong with a group of people celebrating themselves and creating content based on their culture, as long as it isn’t hurting other cultures / people. However, the couple of outlets we have for expression such as: BET & the Image Awards aren’t looked at as the most credible sources to be celebrated by. African-Americans are at fault for this mentality, we shouldn’t downplay our own stuff in an effort to want to give someone else’s thing the upper hand. It’s horrible to think that way! But hey, it happens.
