5 Ways to Strengthen Your Immune System
Do you feel like you are always sick? Do you get a cold or the flu every winter? Do you or your child seem to catch every cold or flu that is being passed around? Do you know somebody who always seems to be sick? If so, here are some natural tips for helping to boost your immune system in order to help you to keep from getting sick and when you do get sick, helping you recover faster.
- Get Adjusted by your local Chiropractor-being adjusted by your local chiropractor increases the amount of Killer T Cells in your body. Killer T Cells are little pac-man that circulate in your blood stream and eat up any bad bacteria or germs that might be making you sick. Anytime you feel a cold coming on, be sure to get adjusted by your chiropractor. (If you need to find the perfect chiropractor for you, read this article).
- Eliminate artificial sugars-germs and bacteria love to eat sugar, especially artificial sugar. Sugar helps the bad bacteria thrive and multiply within your body. A recent study found that eating artifical sugars will cause your immune system to be compromised for approximately 4–6 hours after eating, making your body more susceptible to germs that you encounter daily.

3. Use a neti pot—a neti pot is used to flush out your sinuses. While it can be a gross experience at times, depending how much junk is in your sinuses, they do help you clean out your sinuses to keep you healthy or to help you recover from a sinus infection faster. For those readers who are unfamiliar what this is or how to use it, a neti pot is a little pot that you fill with a salt water mixture. While standing over a sink, you tilt your head to one side and pour the salt water through your nostril. The water filters through your sinuses and out the other nostril clearing out any snot along the way. You can typically find Neti Pots at your local pharmacy.

4. Emergen-C—emergency packets are filled with vitamins, mainly B and C vitamins in order to help boost your immune system. I try to take one of these every couple of days to boost my immune system, I also take this if I feel like I have a cold coming on. Emergen-C comes in little packets that you dilute in water and then drink, this is nice because you can take it on the go and add it to a bottle of water. They also come in different flavors-so they actually taste pretty good too!
5. Make healthy choices daily-what it really boils down to is the more you make healthy choices, the less likely it is for you to get sick when you encounter germs. These healthy choices include numbers 1–4 of this article as well as eating well, exercising, and getting a full night’s sleep.
