I have helped clean out the home of a hoarder family member. But even then there were treasures that were saved. Some with actual value, others with value only to us. One thing pops into my head. A picture she took in a small village in Africa. When she brought them books. These small children proudly standing beside 2 small shelves with less than a dozen books that consisted of their villages new library in a grass hut. She took as many books as she could, and gave a few to as many villages as she could.
When I read your piece, It struck a cord with me, But it was not a good one. It made me wonder just how bad your relationship with your father was. That there was nothing you wanted as a keepsake of either good times together. Or some remembrance of a character trait in your father that you could respect.
Now I need to make it clear, I am not trying to put emotions or the lack of into your head or your life..
I am only saying what picture you painted in mine with what and how you said what you said.
