Sex And The City reboot “And Just Like That” tastes like being at a bar and sipping on a delicious Cosmo, then putting it down and realizing it has been tampered with.
Someone has tampered with this iconic series and I don’t know why. But whoever is to blame for this anti-feminist rewrite of sex-positive history, we need to talk about it.
First, let’s address something in defense of writers in general (though potentially, not the ones who wrote this series). The mere existence of a character does not make them someone who should be held up as an example. We don’t need to pick apart every series and call out every single questionable character and it’s okay for TV characters to make idiotic mistakes.
Characters on TV shows need to make idiotic and selfish mistakes because that’s the formula that creates both comedy and drama.
We can enjoy Ross and Rachel from Friends without going to the logical thought that perhaps they should go to couples therapy. Hundreds of thousands of people would understand what I was saying if I wrote, “WE WERE ON A BREAK!” Friends is a silly sitcom about the misadventures…
