On January 7th, the CEO of MELI Games, Warren Burke, joined a live Ask Me Anything session on the official OKC Telegram channel and answered questions from the OKC team.
The purpose of the event was to introduce MELI Games to the OKC Community.
The following is a recap of the AMA.
What is MELI Games? Can you give a short introduction about the project?
Warren Burke: MELI games is an ecosystem of multiple games, our first game MELI is focused on PVP/PvE battles and the stepping stone into our metaverse…or MELI verse as we call it.
We truly gamify the DeFi experience, allowing anyone with Zero Knowledge of technology, crypto, finance to become financially independent just by playing a video game!
Over the next few years, we’ll be publishing multiple mobile and browser video games so players will never get bored of the MELI verse and find new ways to earn money to become financially independent!
We would like to know about your team. Can you tell us a bit about the founders?
Warren Burke: MELI games is an ecosystem of multiple games, our first game MELI is focused on PVP/PvE battles and the stepping stone into our metaverse…or MELI verse as we call it.

But there is Jack our CMO, who worked with Red Bull for 9 years, he won a Red Dot Design award in 2019 and such large brands as Vaporesso and Vogue!
Our COO Samir works with traditional banking finance companies, so with MELI being US compliant and following US regulation it’s important for us. As we work with a US trust company we have to pay attention to US regulation.
And for myself, I worked in video games for about 10 years now, I had my own video game studio in the UK, Triple Ox Games where we won some Microsoft awards even the 2015 Microsoft Imagine Cup and Azure Innovation awards. I gave a TEDx Talk in 2018 on Blockchain and Data Security. I have been involved with blockchain for about 6 years so combining blockchain and video games is combining two of my life's passions!
How has the experience and background of your team been effective in the success of your project so far?
Warren Burke: Many Gamefi projects are being built by people who don’t even play video games. How crazy is that!!
So together we all have different skills that complement each other, which is what makes us so strong. Each brings a specialism and we all trust each other to make the right decision, this allows us to work fast and strong. We don’t waste time trying to figure things out so we can maneuver in this space much faster and more efficiently than competitors.
Please tell us about $MELI token! What are the tokenomics?
Warren Burke: We have a limited supply of MELI, of 1 billion. But not all are in circulation at any one time. We also have PCE is a game reward token and this allows only true players of our games to progress at a steady pace.
Over 65% of the token supply are distributed to players and the teams tokens are vested for over 4 years! We are focused on being here for ten years not ten months. Even investor tokens are vested for two years so there’s no chance of any whales dumping!
We work with a US trust company that holds and manages the tokens, and when we have consumption events they go straight to the US trust company, so players and buyers of MELI can trust we follow US regulation, the most strict compliance in the world!
Are you working on any partnerships or marketing initiatives to help build awareness for your platform?
Warren Burke: Of course! so we are working with OKC and OKEx directly as well as BSC and some other launchpads and marketplaces to help distribute and make our assets easily available to all.
We are currently working and recruiting game guilds from all over the world to make sure that MELI is fun, competitive and players can monetize much more efficiently than competitor games
We are also speaking to several brands like Reebok and Coca Cola about implementing special NFTs into the MELIverse
What do you think of the current state of the gaming industry and the future?
Warren Burke: I think the past 15 years have been plagued by pay to win or freemium gaming models, and p2e gives us the chance to make things right. Players will not only be compensated for their time playing the games but also they will be rewarded for the hours they put in, once a player spends 500 hours on a video game, they can carry assets into a new game rather than starting from level 1 in the new game.
Players will have a chance to build real virtual companions rather than moving into a new game with nothing.
I personally think p2e games will be the new standard of video games moving forward.
I noticed lots of colleagues from traditional gaming hate p2e but to be honest, they just don’t see the potential, these are also the kinds of people that think cryptocurrency is fake.
So I am very happy to be pioneering p2e in this space and look forward to setting the new standard for blockchain and finance
after all, MELI is the Latin word for better and that’s exactly what we want to bring to Blockchain, Finance, DeFi and video games!
What are the main features that set you apart from other projects and what competitive advantages do you have?
Warren Burke: I think MELI is built by gamers, forst and foremost. We know what makes a fun game. All the other projects are not built by people who play games so it’s impossible for them to make a fun video game.
We are also making sure MELI follows US regulations, so we don’t have to worry about any global compliance or regulation issues in the future.
We are also focused on bringing MULTIPLE games to the MELI verse, so players will have more than one game to play, not be forced to play just one!
I do want to mention That we are really focusing on gamifying DeFi. So explaining to someone about LP pools and diversifying assets, and atomic swaps, and yield farming…it’s all a headache
But saying to someone, with zero knowledge of finance or technology. if you put your game character to sleep, which is staking, you can earn extra MELI or PCE, they understand this very very easily. So we are truly gamifying financial tools, a literal world first!
What upcoming excitement can we expect from your project? Any upcoming events?
Warren Burke: We have our land sales coming this quarter, as well as new features, game mechanics, new NFT drops and a few game guild and competition/league events.

What games do the MELI GAMES team plan to provide to their users? How do members join?
Warren Burke: You can download our games directly from our website, https://meli.games/
Over the next year, we will be releasing all kinds of different games, not just PVP but also idle games, strategy games and we have planned an MMO game for early 2023.
We have a collectible game later this year, which is aimed at women, we feel this is a very overlooked market, since over 50% of women play mobile and casual games we really want to serve the entire gaming market and demographic!
