The Gentlemen Thing To Do: Meyers Leonard and Jimmer Fredette Edition

Right after the Knicks played the Blazers, Meyers Leonard recognized that he’d made a “bad” play. The play happened to be on Jimmer Fredette, the Knicks most recent signing on a 10-day contract.

But just because you make a bad play doesn’t mean you’ll ever get a chance to apologize or admit that your wrong.

In the days of social media, you can virtually find any player, at any time, and reach out to them. And that’s exactly what Meyers did.

He recognized his mistake and tweeted out this tweet (pictured above) to Jimmer.

On the receiving end of the tweet, Jimmer Fredette, didn’t have to respond either. But he did so in humble fashion (see picture below).

Now, this may not be a big deal to some, but it’s a step in the right direction.

In the days where people crave the big, bad, and devastating stories, this was on the brighter side of sports.

Rarely do we see players apologize for their actions and own up to it like Meyers Leonard did.

Hats off to him and Jimmer for being the “bigger men”, moving on from the past, as professional players should do.

To all the kids out there, this is the way to handle your business.
