Here is a video essay transcript of the video below. I just want to share to you fellow Medium writers about why the famous line of Gary Vaynerchuck is that important.

Document, don’t create — Gary Vaynerchuk

You don’t have to be a Vlogger to document your life. Believe me, I’d choose writing over making a video of my day with no hesitations. Though I want to get out of my comfort zone and try vlogging and create content on the video space.

Journaling your day is a great way to document and record your journey. That’s why Bill Gates spent a lot of dollars for Da Vinci’s notebooks.

If you do become a famous writer in the future, I would love to know how you got there.

So please, Document it.

WHY I VLOG TRANSCRIPT

About a year ago, I challenged myself to create Youtube videos. This is how I started. I always wanted to pursue filmmaking and tell stories. Inspired by the interactive storytelling of Casey Neistat, I started doing vlogs.

It became a medium to share your thoughts and spread a message to the world. Did I start doing vlogs to be famous, to earn money and eventually make this a career.

In some parts, yeah.

But what kept me going was the precious moments. Memories that I could relive over and over again by simply watching a video.

Imagine being 60 years old, seeing the old times with your friends from high school and college. The time you spent with your parents and siblings when they were younger, and even seeing those romantic days you’ve spent with the person you love the most.

Isn’t that cool?

I just turned 22 years old this year, and come to think of it. There are more stories to be made, more friends to meet and new experiences to gain.

We humans live for the connections, the relationships that we form in this world especially those who have the same passion as you. All the money, fame and awards are useless if you don’t have someone to share those treasured moments.

Making a vlog doesn’t have to be complicated. All you need is a story and a person you want to entertain, inspire or simply share your journey with. That’s it.

There will always be lessons to learn from all the ups and downs that you will experience in life. In 5, 10 or 20 years you’ll just laugh about your stupid mistakes when you were younger.

Our experiences shape who we are currently.

2018 is just around the corner, I encourage you to start vlogging your journey as this New Year comes.

You don’t need to have the best camera, live your life. Show your struggles. Show your victories, the milestones that you’ve reached. I don’t care if you are a struggling artist, an architect, a police officer or a med student doing your first surgery.

Pick up your phone, your camera and just show your P.O.V to the world.

Start documenting your life. Share your knowledge because someone will find it valuable.

and that’s the reason why you should vlog.
