Pros and Cons of WWE RAW 8/29/2016
Hello everyone and welcome to the Oasis! Today’s topic is the Pros and Cons of tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW. Brief intro done! Let’s get on with the show!
Starting off strong with a PRO for the classy graphic honoring the great Mr. Fuji’s passing and an even more touching video package later in the episode. We will all miss the throwing of the salt in the faces of good guy wrestlers as well as the amazing parodies that you gave us.
You have to give it to WWE on this one for setting up an AMAZING opening promo that consisted mostly of Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Big Cass doing all the talking. We all know its not Roman Reigns’s strong suit, so it was honestly for the best that he say nothing. Having him standing tall to end the segment was the right thing to do. PRO.
You gotta love how Chris Jericho continuously and endlessly reinvents himself. How many superstars can you say that about? PRO.
I know I said I’d like to see a real feud given to Nia Jax, but it is nice to see demonstrations of just how powerful (as well as how beautiful) she actually is. At least this keeps her relevant! PRO.
As much as I love to see Sami Zayn winning, I really am failing to see what the point of bringing Jinder Mahal back was. Like, why can’t WWE give him some kind of storyline? I think he deserves that much at least. That’s a CON.
And we’re treated to another wonderful Cesaro promo that adds another layer to the proof that he’s seriously underutilized. This man simply MUST be the winner of this best of 7 series. It was painful to watch him lose the way he did. Hopefully he didn’t get hurt too much. For now its a CON, but this can become a PRO if it works the way I think it might.
Did they give Braun Strowman a haircut? It looks like they gave him a new haircut. Who’s gonna be able to stop him? Who knows. Don’t wait too long to give Braun a feud though, WWE. PRO.
Give massive props to Paul Heyman for as always playing a fantastic villain. At first I didn’t see what the point of the promo was, and I felt with Stephanie McMahon seeking revenge for what happened to her brother Shane that it was working counter to the intent. But oh no, the advocate for Brock Lesnar was there to cement it in and keep everything moving along. Well done Paul E. Well done. PRO.
Darren Young won a match! And then Titus Young beat him up after the match. Because that’s what we need: a feud that I don’t particularly care for or have any emotion invested in having more matches. CON.
First ever Universal Championship match, Stephanie? Did Summerslam never exist? I mean I know you wanna pretend it didn’t happen because the match was dominated by how much the belt sucks. But come on. PRO.
HOLY SHIT! HO-LY SHIT! To borrow from Adam Blampied, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!? I’ll tell you what happened. The fatal-fourway elimination match saw Big Cass get eliminated first, which kind of saddened me but that did not prepare me for what came next. Triple H came out and absolutely destroyed Roman Reigns, to the fans delight, having Rollins pin him. Then when Triple H turned to KO, the fans started booing like mad, then suddenly…HE TURNS AROUND and Pedigrees Rollins! The seeds have been planted! And KEVIN OWENS is your NEW WWE Universal Champion. I could not have booked that better myself. I tip my hat to you WWE. Bravo. Well done. Take your bow. PRO.
So what did you think? Do you think I’m right or do you think I’m full of shit? Let me know in the comments I’d love to hear from ya! But until then, you’ve just spent a day at the Oasis, thank you for coming and I’ll catch you next time!
