2015 in Review: The White House’s Year on Instagram

From throwback photos of the President and First Family to R2-D2 grooving with POTUS and FLOTUS, we’re taking a look back at the White House’s year on Instagram. 2015 was a year of firsts, including new ways of engaging with our 1.5 million Instagram followers: We joined the the Worldwide InstaMeet for the first time, where Americans from across the country traveled to D.C. to filter their way through the White House and share its history, art, and architecture with their followers — and the world. The account also served as host to several “takeovers,” from NASA during Astronomy Night, to Congressman John Lewis on the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, to even President Obama himself sharing his favorite photos from his trip to the frontlines of climate change in Alaska with Bear Grylls.
