Trump’s comments might seem repugnant to those with modern sensibilities, but they’re not all that inconsistent with the regressive kind of “family values” that have always treated women as less than real people. Some of these people might be offended by Trump’s infidelity, but largely as a violation of some other man’s property rights. All the other stuff just doesn’t matter to them. After all, those were not women helping to perpetuate (I almost said “perpetrate”) the faith. Anything that happened was their fault anyway. More than one of these “men of faith” have been caught preying on young women themselves. They probably see Trump’s success in that area as evidence of fitness within their doctrine of prosperity. It is *utterly unsurprising* that one misogynist supports another, just as with the racists.
