Have you ever seen pictures of certain locations in a country or an island and it gave you a slight orgasm? The thought of just being lost in paradise that deserves your presence. The clear waters of St Lucia, the gentle warm breeze of Zanzibar, The beautiful tiny shops in China, The lively nightlife in Ibiza town and St Antoni or probably it is the must-see Ariel view of the London Eye. Each country, each island, each city and each town has that one spot that happens to attract tourists which I like to call the “G-spot”.

So what about Nigeria? What about our country which is over 923,768 kilometer square in land mass and has a population of over 180 million people? Do we have a G-spot? Do we have where tourists can scream in awe and want to tell the world about? What if I told you, that we did.

The most populated country in Africa is actually an untapped tourist paradise and believe it or not is filled with exotic beaches, lush pastures, exciting and colorful cultures, languages that are like music to the ear and food that will make you drop your diet (I mean jollof rice, Hello!!). From the spiritual shrines through the ancient cities of the North, to the vast and spectacular mountains of Obudu in the South, The ancient Yoruba kingdoms, and the beautiful red sand splurged throughout the East, Nigeria is filled with exotic locations that will take your breath away.

With the help of an amazing and talented group of professionals in content creation, filmmaking, photography called the “MAGSMEN” and TravelBeta, We see Nigeria in a different light in terms of tourism and travel with breathtaking pictures as proof. They were able to capture Nigeria in her most natural essence. Below is a list of 4 amazing top tourist spots In Nigeria.

GURARA WATERFALLS

Located in Niger state which is in the North Central part of Nigeria, Gurara falls is estimated to be 96ft in height and 200m in width and is close to the local government called Gurara. It is said that before it was discovered by the Europeans, Gurara falls was worshipped as a god by the people who lived in communities around. It was named after two deities called “Gura” and “Rara”. Apparently, It is one major tourist site in Nigeria and although the history is sketchy and not really credible, It is definitely a sight to behold. It is easier to get there by road through Abuja. It takes approximately 2.25 hours to reach the destination and takes an entrance fee of 1,000 naira. A guide is there to walk you through a viewing platform on your own time. It’s also an amazing place to have a picnic. There are also plans to build a seven-star hotel around it and create a recreational park too. Wouldn’t that be nice?

OBUDU HOLY MOUNTAINS.

It is said that the Obudu Mountain Resort is the best tourist site in Nigeria and we couldn’t agree more. It is a ranch and a resort on the Obudu plateau in Cross River state. Founded in 1951, it has been an attraction for Nigerians as well as international tourists who come for relaxation and sites of the beautiful view. The holy mountains are definitely a sight to behold. The land mass stretches as far as 340 square kilometers. A cable car which is regarded as the as the longest passenger cable car in the world carries a maximum of 6 people and gives you a panoramic view of the mountains and the resort. The holy mountains are a place of worship and the weather is termed “Volatile”. Temperatures fall to about 11 degrees sometimes and it is regarded as the place where the “Sky kisses the earth”.

ERIN IJESHA (OLUMIRIN) WATERFALLS.

Also called “Olumirin”, The seven-step waterfall is located in the home of the high priestess (Iya Adunni) in Osun state. The stunning waterfall is in Oriade local government. It is located 2km off Erin Ijesha town. The waterfall has a fountain which creates a mystic nature to it. Each step leads you higher giving you an up close and personal feel of the stunning scenery in all its glory. It is said that the waterfall was discovered by one of the daughter’s of Oduduwa. The seven-floor feature of the waterfall holds a village on top of it called Abake.

Located in the South Western region of Nigeria, it’s a tropical climate alternating between hot dry and warm humid seasons. Atmospheric temperatures range from 30 to 40 degrees, while the annual rainfall ranges from 1500cm. It is said that anyone who went close to the edge would be swallowed up. It is even reported that the waterfall takes up to 30 lives every year. The locals say it is a way of the gods being appeased hence their lands are fertile. however, there is always a tour guide and a fee as low as 500 naira can be paid to see the amazing waterfall. Apparently, it doesn’t look like anything out this world until you begin to climb the seven levels of the ascending plains of the waterfalls.

YANKARI NATIONAL PARK.

Located in the south-central part of Bauchi state in Northeastern Nigeria, Yankari was formally created as a game reserve in 1956 but was later designated Nigeria’s biggest park in 1991. The park is managed by the Federal government. It is a region of rolling hills ranging from 200m to 400m. The temperatures range from 18 to 35 degrees. Rainy season is from May to September and the annual rainfall in the park is from 900mm to 1,000mm. It is rich in history and has evidence of early settlement. It also features four warm water springs. The most well known of these springs is the “Wikki warm springs”. The other warm springs are Dimmil, Gwan, and Nawulgo. There’s a fifth spring and it is the only cool spring known as Tungan Naliki.

There is a camp which is regarded as the tourist center of the park. It is called the “Wikki Camp”. It is located 42 kilometers from the main gate and consists of 112 chalets where tourists can spend the night or the weekend, depending on how long their visit is. There is also a museum in the park filled with artifacts from bones to tusks, skin, and game from the park too. Yankari’s wildlife is a range of over 50 species of mammals and 350 species of birds. From the West African lion to the African buffalo, the Waterbuck, Tantalus monkey, hippopotamus, grey hornbill, guinea fowl and much more. It is definitely a sight to behold and one of Nigeria’s greatest assets and treasures of the country.

There are tons of amazing tourist sites in Nigeria. We could go on and on if we like, but these 4 spots on the map of Nigeria have some of the most amazing sceneries, food, vibrant cultures and are not celebrated enough. I believe these 4 places mentioned are some of the major “G-spots” we have. Nigeria has so much more to offer than Jollof rice and Yoruba demons you know, lol.
