Is Our Minimum Wage to Blame for Undocumented Workers and the Prison Industrial Complex?

Partly, yes. On the other hand, there are a great number of companies that do exploit their workers in the name of being a low-cost provider. And in being a low-cost provider, it’s those same companies that set themselves up for failure in long run. Failure that they cannot cultivate a stable culture and the intent of not investing in their own employees. And it’s in that shortsighted nature that, ironically enough, causes those same companies to lose a great amount of money. And the bigger problem to that is with some companies especially in the service industry is that they don’t value those particular positions as much as they should. And all this is in the name of keeping their bottom line.
