More Commenting on Youtube Stuff
It’s been a while since I posted anything. I guess I may as well get back into the habit with the one thing that there seems to be no shortage of, odd things I come across to respond to. I’m was recently suggested a video titled, “Gun Show turns tragic for gun control agenda. lol” It was a collection of news clips about a gun show that took place in Florida shortly after the Pulse night club shooting. It is a tad old now, but now is when I’m watching it.
Going in, I was expecting something along the lines of a story of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun. That seems to be the classic argument that I keep hearing for why people should have guns. A story about gun control advocates resorting to personal fire arms to protect themselves would have also qualified. I think I would have heard if gun control advocates were actually killed, so I ruled out that possibility.
The reality was that I got a serious of news clips about how some people thought that it was somewhat insensitive for them to be selling the same sort of weapon that was used to commit the shooting so close to the event and how people went ahead and did it anyway. No deaths, no acts of violence, no actual tragedy. It was just a big non-story. Rather disappointing, though to be fair the actual video description said that it was a waste of a poor reporter’s time, so it wasn’t completely deceptive.
That would be an awkward place to end this post, I kind of feel like I should say something profound, so here it goes. When was the last time someone committed an act of violence against someone you agree with and you decided to change your mind? If a couple of Manchester United fans were found hanging from the goal, would anyone avoid supporting them? Whatever your cause is, violent acts are only going to cause the people you’re trying to get onto your side to say those people are just psychos that I don’t want anything to do with.
