Why am I writing about my art now?

A song of love to my new baby girl, by P.D. Kailani
Oil on canvas, 100 x 70 cm
Ofir Hirsh, 2016

After 22 years of religiously practicing art, mostly painting oil on canvas, I decided to sit down and write about my art.
It was the birth of my 2nd child, my baby girl Kailani, that triggered all kinds of thoughts about the legacy I will leave behind when my time comes and where will eventually my works will end up.
Writing afterwards about my art, has nothing to do with the art making process excitement, it is rather my effort to provide some kind of introduction to my work and share my ‘behind the scenes’ thoughts, adventures and visions.
I painted ‘A song of love to my new baby girl’ a few days after her birth, riding the waves of extreme happiness, trying to tell this tiny wonder baby how much I love her.
