Lead Me

Seemed only tall shadows marked the night
I stood among them to arouse my higher sense
In search of one to lead me back to the center
Where she resides, my sweet muse immense
As if in disfavor of the moon for my sight
None a soul appeared to lead the way back
A sign perhaps that this one mustn’t exist
That the darkness, my isolation will persist
I squint through the canopy, squeezing light
Pin prick stars dot the spaces sparse between
They hold no answers as to what I would find
Mere picture of how she must look in shadows
I clear my sight, my mind giving up control
She sits as if having known how it all went
Lonely as I, full of everything gone unpenned
Still she opens for me, grants the poet’s voice
