I enjoyed reading this in an odd way. Maybe its the writing style or my imagination creating the scenes like an indie movie with indie rock playing in the background :). 
Or maybe its the time . I usually am happier by 6am in the morning.

One statement did strike me :

Forget for a minute the media perception of northerners, they are actually the nicest people in this country by a mile.

The farthest Ive gone up north is Abuja. Ive heard so many interesting stories but havent just had any chance/reason to make a trip.
