God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
 — John 3:16 NIV

Who is performing the action here, the main character?

God.

What is His motive?

Love.

How much love are we talking about?

So Loved . . .

  • To a great degree : very or extremely
  • Without any doubt

What/who is the object of this love?

The world [i.e., Every human being].

Okay, what did He do?

He GAVE. Not sold, not loaned, not withheld, GAVE.

Gave what/who?

An angel? Rules? . . . He gave His one and only Son [i.e., Jesus]. One & only [i.e., there is none like him (Jesus), he is unique & has a unique relationship with God].

To accomplish what exactly?

. . . whoever believes in him (Jesus) shall not perish but have eternal life. That is the reason He gave - that we may have eternal life. Simply believing in Jesus gives you eternal life [this means to have a relationship with God (see John 17:3)]. This also implies there are two options life eternal or death. Your action is simply to believe or not.

Okayyy, I want life, is this available to me?

Yes! Notice it said - WHOEVER believes in him (Jesus) . . . WHOEVER means any person at all.

✌
