From One Berner to Another…
Looking out on the kids these days, especially looking towards Philly and what’s happening at the Democratic convention, I think it’s safe to say the kids are alright. I see you out there fighting, I hear what they’re saying about you and I want you to know, you’re not wrong. You don’t deserve to be treated as though you’re disobediant children, you don’t deserve the condescension. Whether you see the mass awakening of the world today or not, you’re an integral reason for it. Your desire for information has encouraged change in the way we view the media and opened up so many new channels to obtaining that information. You’ve encouraged and demanded activism on a wide array of social issues, you speak up, you push back. I hear you, we hear you. Some may not like the words you speak, some are entrenched in fear, fear of change, fear of the unknown, fear that their shaky illusions will crumble.
I’m not here to ask you to disregard your values and beg for unity within the Democrat party. Quite the opposite. What you’re doing is firing the will within, it is so important to channel the anger into positive change. And I know this is possible. Stand with your convictions, do not bow down. Do not let the fear of others cause you to falter in those convictions. Whoever you decide to vote for, give your all, just as you did for Bernie. Reach out to others, connect and become active. You are the most informed block of voters this nation has ever seen, keep educating yourselves and others. If you choose to create a third party and unite under a new umbrella, changing the face of politics for years to come, do so with greatness and truth. I will be there with you, my sons and daughter will be there with you. In solidarity.
