To our most excellent dude colleagues at Omni
An important note from your female colleagues.
As you may or may not have heard, Wednesday March 8th is International Women’s Day. In the same spirit of love and liberation that inspired the Women’s March on Washington this January, organizers have called for us to join together in a strike to make March 8th ‘A Day Without a Woman,’ recognizing the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system, and the pervasive and systemic gender-based inequalities that still exist within our society, from the wage gap, to vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity.
The women of Omni’s HQ office feel grateful to be part of a workplace that routinely champions and recognizes the value that women bring to the company every day. We love the work we do, we have great respect for our male colleagues, and consider ourselves privileged to have such a positive professional experience during this time in our history.
So, we’re not going to strike.
However, in solidarity with the International Women’s Strike organizers and undervalued women everywhere, we will not be in the office tomorrow, March 8th — we will perform our duties remotely, letting our collective absence in the workplace be our statement. While we’re remote, we will be working side by side in the East Bay (team building!) and dedicating some time to brainstorm ways to evangelize and advance Omni’s example of supporting women in the workplace.
We hope you’ll stand in support of our participation in this way.
Thanks for being woke.
