The Big Ask…. Getting to know Omnitude’s Social Media Manager — Nikki Hall

1. Where do you live, work and play?
I’m lucky enough to live and work remotely from the sunny Algarve, in the South of Portugal. Due to my location, I’m spoilt for choice as to where I want to play. I am surrounded by stunning beach and glorious climate, so I tend to spend most of my weekends on the beach during the summer months (although you would never be able to tell thanks to my white Irish skin) or out socializing with friends and family at our local café, while listening to some live music on a Sunday afternoon.

2. Describe your role in Omnitude?
I work in the marketing department, and my main role is to manage and create content for Omnitude’s social media profiles. My skills don’t end there though. I am also very involved in creation of marketing campaigns, content creation, researching speaking opportunities for our Executive team and I also like to play around in Photoshop and Illustrator.

3. What do you love about your job?
It’s so fast paced, there is not enough time to get bored. It is always changing — always evolving — and I get front row seats watching the process of an idea grow into a worldwide business. Being curious really helps in this industry, so I love to research, research and research some more and constantly learn new things about the industry.

And it’s refreshing to work with a team in which everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the Omnitude mission. The energy truly is contagious! There is a genuine spirit of cooperation and shared goals. I have never experienced this in other work environments.

4. How long have you worked in the ‘tech’ industry?
I have been working in tech since 2014, when I started working as a social media manager and graphic designer for a web agency.

5. What are your favourite things?
I became a mom for the first time in 2017 — and, as cheesy as it sounds — he is my pride and joy. And yes, I became that annoying parents that shares all of his milestones on social media — I just can’t help it!

I also have a special thing for unicorns — always have since I was little — way before it was ‘fashionable’. Maybe my love for unicorns helped make the current trend viral on social?!

I like to get creative on personal projects such as transforming photos into original artwork in Photoshop and Illustrator, but with a two-year-old, there doesn’t seem to be much ‘free’ time available! Other favourite things include good drinks, good food and a good laugh. It really is all about the simple things.

6. Why does blockchain technology excite you?
Blockchain is a revolutionary technology that puts the trust from third parties into our own hands, allowing us to validate our own transactions and verify our own data. Ultimately, blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionise a bunch of things and make all sorts of things more efficient and trustworthy. What excites me the most, is the potential of blockchain technology to be used for good and for users to control their own data.

7. What are your biggest hopes and fears regarding the future of blockchain technology?
Blockchain adoption, which is the main hurdle at the moment, mainly because 90% people are always afraid of new things. Here at Omnitude, we represent the 10% of people who thirst for knowledge and doing new stuff, the rebels, the misfits.

8. Have you invested in ICOs?
I had never known of this world before I joined the Omnitude team.

9. What’s your claim to fame?
I participated as an extra for several commercials. My favourite one was when I was asked to wear a very revealing outfit for a Skoda advert, to which I politely declined and asked to wear a pink panda onesie. I was known as the ‘pink pig’ the rest of the day. Guess what? I appeared longer in the advert that the rest of the extras!

10. What does the success of Omnitude look like to you?
Seeing something we’ve created from the ground up actively being used and recognised as a powerful brand that adds value, while improving the operations of our customers businesses.
