In Case We Don’t Get Tomorrow

In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that i’m sorry. Leaving and hurting you was never my intention but sometime ago, I realized that I might not get as many tomorrows as I always assumed I would and all efforts to find out exactly how many I had left proved abortive.

So In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that i’m glad we had yesterday. I’m glad I had an awful day at work and decided to go have drinks after, glad that you walked into my favorite bar and grateful to the gods for the unusual courage and eloquence bestowed upon me to grace your ears with what you still refer to as the cheesiest pickup line ever, lol. I’m glad it was cheesy enough to make you smile and thankful that you let me buy you drinks and make you laugh after.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that i’m really glad we met yesterday.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that i’m glad that we had today. I’m glad that we hung out and gisted and smiled and laughed till we almost cried. I’m glad we made plans and set goals, glad we had deep conversations and kept it real with each other, glad that it never mattered who called first or who balled more as long as we always had a good time together. I’m glad we didn’t allow trivialities and pettiness come between us, glad that even when we had disagreements, we both knew it would never be cool for us not to be cool with each other.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, i need you to know that i’m glad you were in my life today.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, and I really hope we do, I need you to know that I love you. I’ve loved you long before I even knew I was in love, I’ve loved you since that first day at bar when I heard your beautiful laugh and realized that my only purpose on earth was to make you happy. I’ve loved you everyday since then, on good days and bad and on the really bad days when you thought you hated yourself.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that I love you, more today than I did yesterday and not as much as I would have tomorrow.

In case we don’t get tomorrow, I need you to know that it doesn’t matter because we don’t need tomorrow, we had more than enough todays and yesterdays and i’m glad we created all the memories that come to your mind as you read this; but just in case we do get tomorrow, let’s make it epic, let’s live laugh and love even more than we did today because tomorrow’s tomorrow might not be ours to have.
