While live video is reshaping corporate communications, it’s also having tremendous impact outside the organizations as well. The market for external usage is very deep, and there certainly are potential usages for streaming, no one have thought about yet. Current state of the matter is, that in 2017 top external streaming use case was e-commerce sales. Consumers are very comfortable with online shopping right now, so it’s natural extension to hold live commerce event to expand the medium directly into sales. Briefings allows to present products and reach large, global bases of media outlets and influencers, and 53% of latest Brandlive live streaming report respondents are planning to pilot them in the coming year. Other top external use cases included in-person events such as trade show discussions and live product launches, each at just under 50%.
Use of live streaming for consumer panels emerged from survey at high 39.02% in 2017. Consumer panels are studies of how consumers interact with or feel about brands and products. 51.22% companies stated, that reaction of their clients is important for them and they intend to stream their first consumer panels in next year. This is big move in this category. Consumer panels are quick and relatively cost effective way to gauge reactions, which may be invaluable for future product launches.
Live streamed product launches become de-facto standard and companies who did it in the past will surely continue the trend. Predicted 2% rise in this category isn’t spectacular but there is a rising trend nonetheless. There is also strong push towards direct consumer marketing with rise from 41% to 45%. Selling product trough influencers, and involving customers through live interaction does work, and surveyed companies are interested in extending their involvement in this segment.

Overall predictions for live streaming market are strong. The trend, and new, not yet discovered use cases will proliferate in the future.
