Chief John Oyegun

It remains an unsolvable puzzle, the self inflicting shame and incalculable abyss some politicians could plunge themselves to just as a result of their untamed quest to ridicule or destroy the collective will of the majority. This bizzare circumstance reared its hydra head by the unguarded and ridiculing statement released by the National Vice Chairman {south west}, of the All progressive congress Chief Pius Akinyele stating how the delegate list was manipulated for the Governorship primary in Ondo.

In his words, Chief Akinyele named the actors as Chief John Oyegun, national secretary Mai Mala Buni and the National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso. Akinyelure in his wisdom stated that Osita Izunaso single handedly removed, altered, added or substituted names of delegates which led to the emergence of Akeredolu.

It was also Akinyelure’s testimony that senator Osita Izunaso received complaints by the aspirants on the delegates list, a fact which was presented at the 19th of September, 2016 National Working Committee (NWC) meeting.

Akinyelure further affirmed that Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and three others aspirants protested and raised objections as to the delegate list to the election committee on the election day.

To paragraphically react to the assertion of Chief Pius Akinyelure, it is instructive to set the point straight that fifteen (15) members were present in the meeting of (NWC) on September, 2016 as against the manufactured figure of eleven (11). The members present were,

  1. Chief John Odigie Oyegun [National Chairman],
  2. Engineer Segun Oni [Dept. National Chairman South West},
  3. Senator Lawan Shuaibu [Dept. National Chairman North],
  4. Hon. Mai Mala Buni [National Secretary}
  5. Inuwa Abdul -kadir esq [National Vice Chairman N/W}
  6. Hon. Emma Eneukwu [National vice chairman S/W],
  7. Prince. Hillard Etagbo Efa [National vice chairman S/S],
  8. Chief Pius Akinyele [National vice chairman S/W]
  9. Mall Zakari idde [National Treasurer]
  10. [Senator Osita Izunaso].
  11. Chief [DR.] George Moghalu [National Auditor]
  12. Alh. Tajudeen Olaota Bello [National financial secretary]
  13. Hon.Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo [National Youth Leader]
  14. Mr Oji Ngofa [Dep National secretary].
  15. Dr Banrfa [National Legal Adviser] and Hajiya Ramatu Aliyu [National Women Leader] were absent.

One must surely understand the intent of this political stooge of an emperor, in his unconscionable attempt to distort facts about what transpired during the NWC, whatever decision which is subject to the National Executive Committee in line with Article 13.4 of the party constitution.

The porosity of Chief Akinyelure’s assertion revealed itself where he admitted that ‘Rotimi’ Akeredolu complained about the delegates list on the day of election, a list prepared by the NWC to which Akinyelure belongs. It was his constitutional duty as National Vice Chairman south west to monitor and guard the NWC on primary conduct bordering on Ondo State where Akinyelure hails from.

It’s shameful that Chief Akinyelure could pointedly venture into this undignifying path purposely to destroy the emergence of Akeredolu. Chief Akinyelure had wanted to be a minister of the Federation but was considered unfit by president Buhari, a wound which he nursed against Akeredolu. Pius Akinyelure is therefore hell bent on foisting on the party a political situation where he would be the beneficiary of the Governorship candidacy because he is from Ondo state, and the party will have no other choice after the cancellation of the primary.

Instructively, while making this write up, news was received that Illiard Eta, the APC National Vice Chairman (South South) described the statement of Pius Akinyelure as false and same represents an attempt to please an unnamed benefactor. He went further to state that the only person who voted in favour of the Appeal Committee recommendation was Alhaji Zakari Indeh *APC National Vice Chairman North Central. This was on the third sitting after the party Chairman and Secretary of the NWC had been mandated to make wider consultation.

The question seriously begs, where did Pius Akinyelure get the brief to sell a false news on a meeting he participated in, on a report (Appeal Committee) he voted against.

This is an irresistible conclusion; Pius has been tempted to dance to a strange music, the rhythm of which he did not know, surely it will lead to shame.

We as discerning followers of the political situation are not oblivious of this sinister intention of Chief Pius Akinyelure and never will Ondo state return to the dark ages where deserving candidates are suffocated and electorally devalued because of their zeal to serve the greater number of people for greater good.
