I did read point #2 in your response.

I just want you to notice how, by stressing that “respect is always for the person and never the gender” (both in your response to the original article and to my coment here), it sounds like you think that the point of the original article was to demand more respect for women because they are women, while the point of the article is to demand equal treatment and opportunities.

Since “equal” is the key word here, there is no need to say anything about how it is important to be respectful of people regardless of their gender.
That’s what we want to achieve anyway.

I am not a native English speaker, so I am most likely not being eloquent enough to explain this concept, but if you do plan to read more about the subject, sooner or later you will stumble upon this and realise what I mean.
