Do you need to learn code to build a WordPress site?

One of the most appealing things about WordPress is it’s out-of-the-box simplicity. It’s made for the DIY blogger and entrepreneurs who have a certain comfort level messing around with computers. And it really is suitable for those who are more advanced with coding in HTML, CSS and javascript.

It’s not a necessity to know how to code in order to make use of the wonderfully robust features that WordPress holds. Knowing some code just makes WordPress more fun, scalable and flexible.

So, it’s not necessary to learn code, but I found working with WordPress inspired me to peek down the rabbit hole and begin learning to modify code to suit my needs. After all, I’m one of those people who isn’t ever happy with good ‘nuff.

It can be a slippery slope though! Next thing you know, I’m inspired to write my own theme and explore Bootstrap and dig deeper into understanding the advances in HTML5.

Good thing I love to read books. My bookshelf now weighs an extra 45 pounds from just consuming the geeky coding information. This is my idea of a fun Saturday, forsaking sunshine and vitamin d3 for filling my brain with useful tidbits and practising the craft.

Who knew it would come to this?

Do what you love and love what you do!
