Stop Yelling About What Poor People Eat

FWIW, this is the same life that rural, poor white people live. It’s why talk of privilege to them feels misplaced. In my case, the conversation wasn’t about food or electricity, it was about paying for things this month or allowing them to go into arrears while scrounging for bottles to return for deposit so we could get milk/bread at the end of the month since we couldn’t afford either food or electricity sometimes. Trust me, the mentality you see among the white boutique farmers is just as frustrating to some white folks as non-white folks.
