Rockville, Maryland and Montgomery County are offering AMAZING incentives to business owners! Rockville is located in Montgomery County and it is the largest incorporated city in the County and the third largest city in all of the state of Maryland. It is located at the center of the Interstate 270 Technology Corridor and it is home to many Government Institutions, Technology, Biotech, Software, HealthCare, Hospitality, Pharma, and many other organizations. It has been ranked as one of the Top 10 Best Cities for Families because of its proximity to Washington, DC, its excellent school system, wide amount of parks and athletic facilities, and low crime rate. Rockville’s median household income is just over $97,000.
Rockville recently came out with a program called “Rockville MOVE Program” designed for new and established business looking to move into the city or expand within the city. New businesses may receive up to $4.00 per square foot and existing business in Rockville looking to expand may receive up to $5.00 per square foot from them! Here is a brief overview of the program:
- It is a one-time grant to the business that is relocating or expanding in Montgomery County or startup companies moving into their first commercial space
- A 3 year minimum lease
- Commercial property must be Class A or B office, industrial, or flex space
- Existing Rockville businesses will need a minimum of 1,000 square feet of additional space
- Unfortunately it excludes retail and restaurant spaces
The great thing about this program is that you can combine it with a similar program that Montgomery County has had for a few years called “MOVE Program” for new business moving to Montgomery County in which they can receive an additional $8.00 per square foot plus what Rockville gives you! In this program you can lease up to 10,000 square feet of Class A or B of office space for a minimum of 3 years. I have recommended this “Montgomery County MOVE Program” to many of my office clients and they have taken a great benefit from it, and now combined with Rockville’s new program it got even better!
