The DNC Will Face the Revolution With or Without Keith at its Helm

The Political Revolution, along with countless progressive politicians and organizations, supported Keith Ellison in his campaign to become the next DNC party chair. After today’s voting, the DNC has elected Tom Perez to that position.
While Perez has some progressive credentials, we express our disappointment that party officials overlooked Keith Ellison’s track record of organizing at the grassroots level and winning elections.
Despite today’s results, The Political Revolution remains resolute. As the Japanese proverb states, “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” The DNC chair race was not our only goal, and we are committed to the same vision of an America where the needs of the many are not overlooked for the sake of a few.
Join us in helping to bring this vision into reality. Now is the perfect time to step up. On the local level, many people just like you have already begun running for office or becoming precinct chairs in their local party. The solution is not to give up, but rather to become more involved.
Remember, as Bernie Sanders once said, “Election days come and go, but the struggle for economic, social, racial and environmental justice will always continue.”
