Overtime is on a Winning Streak: Updates, more Incentives and Trivia!

Hey sports fans! It’s taken less than two months for Overtime Markets to establish itself as legitimate competition to traditional sports markets while staying trustless, reliable and accessible. And the wins won’t stop anytime soon, with a constant barrage of updates and new ways to get involved with the Overtime community. Keep reading for details on a new round of incentives as well as Overtime’s first ever Sports Trivia with questions sourced from the community. But first, how about a quick look at our performance so far?

The enthusiasm from our community and user base has been incredible since the first day we launched Overtime Markets. Don’t take our words for it, check out these numbers so far:

Overtime Markets has seen traders take over 4,500 positions
That’s from more than 750 users
We’ve seen notional volume surpass $950,000

Our bread and butter has been Soccer and Baseball so far, with most trades coming from these sports. Newer additions such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and American Football are sure to catch up as Fall leagues get underway. Get ready for the best time of the year for sports, this time with your ticket to the action stored on the blockchain!

New Incentives: Even more THALES and OP for losing trades!

The program to incentive negative profit has been a huge hit. Where else can you win even if you didn’t quite win? And thanks to TIP-81, this program has been extended and rewards have increased substantially. Instead of 5,000 THALES and 5,000 OP divided among traders at the end of each 2 week period based on total wallet PnL, Overtime will distribute 8,000 THALES and 8,000 OP pro-rata based on the sum of all finalized position losses in sUSD during the ongoing 2-week round. That’s a 60% increase from previous rounds!

This new incentive structure will take place over the next 4 weeks, starting and ending at midnight UTC of the following days:

Round 3 — August 29th to September 12th
Round 4 — September 12th to September 26th

So if you haven’t taken the plunge yet, there hasn’t been a better time to get into some positional markets for your favorite games. If you’re new you can view this video guide for a short intro to Overtime. Even if you don’t find yourself with a magic touch right out the gate you can rest easy knowing your total losses will be earning you THALES and OP!

Overtime’s Inaugural Sports Trivia Release

We love giving the community something to compete over. This time we’ve decided to draw on their knowledge to put together a Sport Trivia Release.

How to play:

Retweet the Trivia announcement Tweet and follow Overtime’s Twitter Account
Connect to Overtime Market with your wallet and enter your twitter handle and discord account

There will be 10 questions to answer, each one sourced directly from a community member (so please bare with us if there is mistake among the questions. You can always take the quiz again). Each question will be subject to a time limit of 60 seconds and difficulty will range from easy to hard. Keep this in mind as time and difficulty will be factored into the score.

Contestants can complete the questions as many times as they want. Rewards will be distributed for each weekly period in the form of an sUSD voucher NFT that can only be redeemed on Overtime Markets. Winners will receive the vouchers directly into their wallets.

Week 1 Rewards

The trivia will be live on Tuesday, August 30th and run until Sunday, September 4rth at 23:59 UTC. The first week is the big one, with total prizes for the top 20 submitters coming to 1,350 in sUSD. Rewards will be distributed as follows:

1st place = 500 sUSD voucher NFT
2nd place = 200 sUSD voucher NFT
3rd place = 100 sUSD voucher NFT
4th to 10th places = 50 sUSD voucher NFTs
11th to 20th places= 20 sUSD voucher NFTs

Rewards for subsequent weeks running for 2 months

Each weekly round after the initial week will run Monday to Monday. Rewards for the remaining weeks will come to 500 sUSD total for each round and will be distributed as follows:

1st place = 200 sUSD voucher NFT
2nd place = 100 sUSD voucher NFT
3rd place= 50 sUSD voucher NFT
4th to 10th places = 20 sUSD voucher NFT
