This is and has been a major crisis. It is as if there are no families attached to the unemployed. Jeffery Pheffer’s work, “Dying for a Paycheck” is the new reality in America. I think it speaks to all that is wrong in our society, where profit is the only thing that matters. People are of no value. My dad was a public school superintendent. He retired with banquets and hoopla, only to be sought after by a school/ hospital construction management company. He never had this happen. The quality of his life was so much better than those who corporate America deemed unnecessary. It is too much for men or women to face so much uncertainty in there lifeline. The health consequences are there to prove it.
