Rationality Matters

The false narrative spread by BLM advocates is killing not only police officers, but unarmed blacks as well.

Racial demagogues claim that open season has been declared on black people, and cops can and do hunt black folks for sport. When most people hear this logic, they balk at the insanity. But when you repeat a lie often enough, some people start to believe it.

That’s how you get Korryn Gaines. The woman who, in front of her 5-year old child, committed suicide by cop. This woman didn’t seem to be mentally insane, but she was thoroughly indoctrinated by the BLM lie.

She was like an extreme Scientologist, where you can’t pick out sociopathy, or borderline personality disorder, or any other specific mental issue, but they sound crazy.

Her indoctrination led to the following set of erratic behavior. Instead of using a license plate, she thought cardboard was ok. When she got pulled over for driving without a license plate, she acted insane. She was very aggressive with the cop and refused to follow basic instructions.

The officer was extremely accommodating to her and gave a minimal citation for the plates (he could have arrested her and impounded the car).

Of course, Korryn Gaines isn’t going to pay the white man’s ticket. That money will just be used to murder black youths, or sneak crack into the drinking water, or whatever.

So she waits for an arrest warrant to be issued and executed. But when they come to peacefully arrest her, she seems to think it’s an assassination. Something she would have no reason to believe outside of false BLM propaganda.

She tragically barricades herself in with her shotgun and explains to her 5-year old how the cops are here to kill her. After she threatens and aims her gun at the cops enough times they make good on her word.

And that poor child got hit in the crossfire (he survived).

In addition to hurting herself, the set of lies this woman believed leads to violence against officers. Micah Johnson, etc.

If I honestly believed that the government was at war with my friends and family, I might rationally take up arms against it.

Fortunately, American police are not at war with black people. Unfortunately, many believe otherwise.

So this twisted logic leads to cases like Micah Johnson, but also to Korryn Gaines. If she had interacted with the police officers peacefully, she would be alive today. Simply being black does not make it more likely that cops will shoot you, but aiming a gun at them does.

One of the worst parts about her story is that during the standoff with police, online supporters were encouraging her to fight against the cops. They were encouraging her to kill herself, and maybe a cop or two while at it, and maybe her child as collateral damage.

This is unforgivable. BLM needs to take responsibility for false and actionable narratives they put out. BLM needs to reshape their message to save lives like Korryn Gaines.

What Korryn Gaines did was not crazy if you believe the BLM propaganda. It’s the propaganda that’s crazy.

There are a lot of problems with the way police operate in America, and many of these problems have racial components, but the way to make change is not through violence. The situation will not be advanced by a large-scale war on the police, nor will it be advanced through individual attempts at martyrdom like Korryn Gaines.

The way forward is through changes in policies and laws. Some of this is starting to roll in, like body cameras, and in some areas more political action needs to be taken. But nowhere is violence against police appropriate. And nowhere does resisting arrest out of simple obstinance make sense for anyone.
