DHRUV’16

On 15th January 2016, Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitibai Phule Pune University flagged off its annual three-day event — ‘Dhruv’.

‘Dhruv’ is a mega inter college league event wherein different colleges across India participate in various management, cultural and sports events and compete against each other for 3 days. This year, on account of effective advertising and promotions, Dhruv16 was flooded with entries from various B-Schools across India.

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. B.V. Sangvikar, Head of Department of DMS PUMBA. He conveyed his best wishes to the entire college fraternity before the start of the event.

This year, Dhruv was based on a‘Game of Thrones’ theme wherein an entire Game of Thrones setup was created in the college. The students made sure that every detail gave that typical Game of Thrones feel.

There were numerous management events such as Fayol’sFantastic Four, Biz Quiz, Fortune500 and Markatti which were aimed at testing the student’s business quotient. One such event was Fortune500where an artificial market environment was created and students were provided with some stipulated capital to start a business in the same. Ad zap was another event wherein students were given a task to come up with a short enacted ad along with a jingle and an ad poster based on a given product and a theme. As the events were going on in full force a separate Game of throne quiz was being conducted in their official twitter handle in which questions were broadcasted at regular intervals.

There were also numerous sport events which included football, badminton, volley ball, table tennis, chess etc.Various college teams participated in all games in the right sportsman spirit which gave birth to an overall very competitive environment.

Cultural events such as Panache which was a fashion show event, street play, dance, karaoke, acoustic night and many more showcased the students’ artistic talents. Infact the concluding night of Dhruv16 was all about beautiful dance and music. Various eminent personalities were invited in to judge the different events.

After an eventful and competitive three days, IMERT College was declared as the winner.The prestigious Dhruv16 trophy was handed over to them in the presence of the esteemed faculty Dr. Shilpa Bhide, Dr. Supriya Patil, Mr. A.G.Joshi and Dr.Manish Verma. Both the faculty and the judges congratulated the winners and also appreciated the efforts taken up by the students for successfully pulling off such a large scale eventwhich was so diverse in nature.
