How the MBA PBT students kickstarted their B-School Journey!- Welcome Batch 2016–18!
An event to groom the students, an event to acquaint them with their colleagues and help them to step into the corporate universe was held by the students and the faculty of Department of Management Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University. The program was held on the 18th and 19th of July 2016 for the first year MBA (PBT) students. Each student was given a buddy from the senior’s batch. The main purpose of this was to help out the respective fresher with any kind of issue or query.
The event was initiated by lighting the lamp by the faculty and the Chief Guest for the day, Mr. Shashi Kumar. Mr. Shashi Kumar is the CEO of the Grand View Research. His speech taught the students about the concepts of market and the key factors to survive in the market research company. He made them aware about how to be a right fit in the right company. He guided about how trust, job satisfaction and investment for best results are crucial in the business world. The finance faculty in-charge, Dr. Shilpa Bhide conducted a group activity which intended to deliver the importance of team work. Dr. M. N. Varma, a faculty member, made the students understand how logic is the necessity of problem-solving. Also, he explained the 8 M’s of management. The day concluded with the introductions of the Seminar and the Alumni cell.
The second day commenced with the introduction of Placement cell, a 17-student committee, acting as an interface between the department and the corporate world which helps in deciding the right fit for the right candidate.
Dr. Supriya Patil informed the students about the course details and the curriculum which was followed by a lecture by the speaker Dr. Amol Raut, CEO, Gene Support. He instructed the students about the scope of Nutrigenomics and Theronostics and explained the students about how capital, market research, and ideas are beneficial for an entrepreneur. The Communication cell and Entrepreneurship Development cell introduced themselves, each stating their significance to the department.
The day ended with an interaction by Guest of Honor, Mr. Shailesh Naik, the Country Head of Generic Partners and Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran, CEO of Indus Biotech in which they focused on values as integrity, ethics and moral standards and also about their companies. The session ended with a question round.
To refresh, relax and replenish the students and to conclude the induction program, an Ice-breaking session was conducted by the Cultural cell members of the student-driven department.
