As part of our on-going efforts to ramp up development and marketing of Pandacoin, we’ve taken the initiative of returning to Medium, where we we will be providing frequent updates regarding the state of the Pandacoin network in addition to efforts in connecting with the community.

A Brief Introduction:

For some, Pandacoin’s history will be familiar already: an independent blockchain released in February, 2014. Inititally a Proof-of-Work coin, Pandacoin made the switch to Proof-of-Stake shortly after: a mining algorithm that many projects are only now starting to understand the potential of. Proof-of-Stake removes the difficulties and inevitable unfairness of hardware mining and allows for any user on the network to contribute to the security by simply holding their stake in their wallet. For their efforts, individuals that stake their coins in their wallet are financially rewarded.

Unlike many projects you’ll find today, Pandacoin is not a Token, nor does it have a premine or heavy centralised authority that takes reign over its development. Pandacoin’s team is a group of global individuals that are open to contributors and ensuring the core values of Cryptocurrency are met.

What’s Happening?

At the request of the community, the Pandacoin Team has been focusing on many improvements to the current state of things. A popular request being the contacting and listings of Centralised Exchanges. This is a particularly difficult process that often requires paying an exceptionally large fee or displaying very liquid trading markets already. That said, we’ve made contact with Yobit to fix the wallet issues they had faced and trading is now available again under the ticker $OLDPND. We’ve reached out again to request the changing of the ticker back to $PND. If you aren’t comfortable trading over at Yobit, Pandacoin is available over at Unnamed under the usual ticker $PND.

Our attention is very much focused on working with exchanges to improve trading options and thus liquidity to Pandacoin, and we’d love for the community to voice their interests in getting the coin listed on their favourite exchanges. The reality is that exchanges either want a large fee or clear evidence of liquidity that would bring them some trading volume fees; so while we’re hard at work developing and establishing contact, we’d love for our community to spread the word and show genuine demand.

When we’re ready, we’ll be releasing a fully-functional Android mobile wallet for Pandacoin. An announcement of the Android wallet’s release will be featured in a future update, in addition to our various socials, so be sure to follow those — found at the bottom of this post — to stay up-to-date.

Without pursuing the generic style of generating hype, we do in fact have a few interesting developments in our pipeline, but we do not yet feel comfortable in sharing them and getting a bit too ahead of ourselves. Updates on this will come at a later date, once we have allocated resources — time and people — to problem solve and build and ensure it’s pursuing the right direction. For now, our focus here is connecting with you all and spreading the word.

Decentralisation Matters!

Cryptocurrency is more than money, it’s about community. While our developers are hard at work experimenting with new changes and improvements to Pandacoin, we want to express the importance of decentralised services. This means we’d love for our community to create useful services that contribute to the Pandacoin ecosystem: Pandacoin explorers, wallets, tipping services/faucets, or even simply accepting Pandacoin as a payment on your own storefronts. If you aren’t a technical person, then that’s fine too! We’d love to see our community interact with Pandacoin art and memes, and we would be happy to feature them in future posts and services so that others too can use them.

We hope that you’ll join us, if you haven’t already, and contribute to the Pandacoin project.
