Facts about Chinese Zodiac

Chinese astrology, Chinese horoscope, Chinese zodiac, Chinese animal signs, they are the same thing, all are about twelve animals: rat (鼠 [shǔ]), ox (牛 [niú]), tiger (虎 [hǔ]), rabbit (兔 [tù]), dragon (龙 [lóng]), snake (蛇 [shé]), horse (马 [mǎ]), sheep (羊 [yáng]), monkey (猴 [hóu]), rooster (鸡 [jī]), dog (狗 [gǒu]), and pig (猪 [zhū]). They are called 生肖 (shēng xiào) or 属相 (shǔ xiàng) by the Chinese who use them to count years, talk about birth and age, and predict personality of a human being, fortunes within a year and love compatibility in marriage.

Chinese Zodiac Animals 2019

Twelve years are a time period, called a shēng xiào circle. 2018 is a dog year; a kid born this year is a dog kid. 2019 will be a pig year and 2020 a rat year. The last dog year was twelve years ago when it was 2006 and the last rat year was 2008. From 2008 to 2019, it will be a circle finished and from 2020 on, a new circle will begin. People would have different fortunes in 2019 according to their animal signs. For instance, in this pig year, a rat person is predicted to be lucky in every aspects while an ox person may not be so lucky with his career but still lucky with his relationship.

Chinese Zodiac Personality & Compatibility

Each of these animals is supposed to have their own characteristics and compatibility which have little to do with the real animals roaming on the earth planet. They are stereotype categories, which people are put into to be judged. Take an example: a tiger person is supposed to be brave, resistant, independent, of high self-esteem, and like to act alone and play the role of a big brother. But a tiger person is sometimes imprudent. Also, a tiger person is considered the best match for a pig person, a good match for a horse or a dog person and the worst match for a monkey or snake person when it comes to personality compatibility. About personality and compatibility, there is no scientific evidence, but there are people who believe in it and would never date their astrological bane of life!
