The Panvala team visited Berlin for Web3Summit, DappCon and ETHBerlin. What a week it was!

Mainnet Launch on stage at DappCon

A little over a year after Panvala was announced to the public, we launched on the Ethereum mainnet at 15:05 PM on Thursday 22 August.

After our founder, Niran Babalola, gave an inspiring speech about the Panvala community’s mission, our contracts were initialized and Panvala was announced LIVE.

“When you talk to those outside the ecosystem, they think the blockchain community is just a bunch of people who got rich quick. I want to change that narrative — from one about private wealth to one about commonwealth.” — Niran Babalola, founder of Panvala

Celebrating at Full Node

We had so.much.fun. at our Launch Party at Full Node! It was amazing to meet so many of our community members in person. We were joined by members of the Level K, Sigma Prime, BrightID and a lot of other amazing teams for food, drinks, and many inspiring conversations.

As a surprise, Aleeza Howitt from BrightID, one of our grant winners, gave a talk about their decentralized identity network. BrightID helps verify unique human beings through using social graph analysis to keep fake users out of applications. It runs on a decentralized network of nodes and requires no personal data from users other than an anonymous graph of connections! This, for example, allows DApps to enforce one account or one vote per person.

Of course, we all had to try it out after hearing the best way to prove your “uniqueness” is to connect to as many people as possible…

Overheard: “It’s like Pokemon Go. I just gotta catch ‘em all!”

Huge shoutout to Full Node for helping us host such an amazing event, to Jasmin Catering for the delicious food, to Anne Preussel for the beautiful pictures & to Lemia Bodden for capturing the evening on video (aftermovie to follow!).

DappCon & ETHBerlin

We sponsored DappCon and ETHBerlin and had a booth where everyone could try their luck at our spinning wheel to win PAN tokens, swag… or nothing at all — bankwupt (like the Elon Musk meme that a disappointingly low number of people seemed to know).

We also met Tupac, the famous crypto dog, at ETHBerlin.

Over the course of the week, 4000 PAN tokens were won, 100+ people joined our community of Patrons that help fund Panvala grants, and we received 40 grant applications for Batch 4 of our token grants!

Bankwuptcy sucks. We’re sorry.

Berlin Blockchain Week truly was a blast. There’s something incredibly inspiring about meeting hackers and buidlers from all over the world who have gathered together to keep advancing the vision they believe in. Shoutout to everyone who has made this week possible! We already can’t wait for next year’s edition.

Look out for the launch of our donation flow later this month… And who knows, we might see you at DevCon in Osaka soon🇯🇵?

Let’s sustain Ethereum together.
