Panvala is a decentralized system where any participant can unilaterally take action. The token holders can challenge and overturn proposals with a majority vote. Since staked tokens will be lost if the token holders disagree, proposers need to be confident that they have the support of the token holders.

That’s why each proposal is designed to include the identity of a recommender, a group of people who recommend proposals they think the token holders will support. Token holders challenge recommended proposals if they want the recommender to change their ways, or if they want to replace the recommender with another group altogether.

For Panvala Marks, we introduced the Panvala Mark Council, which recommended the first Panvala Mark for the SimpleMultiSig smart contract wallet. For the Panvala Token Grant program, we’re happy to announce the Panvala Awards Committee. The initial members of the committee are Evan van Ness from Week in Ethereum, Bryant Eisenbach from ETHSecurity, and Pol Lanski from Giveth.

In January, the Panvala Awards Committee will review token grant proposals and recommend a budget for the 2,119,836 PAN tokens available to distribute in Batch 1 on February 1. We encourage anyone who is already planning work that makes Ethereum safer to apply for token grants. These tokens will help the people already doing the work bring in more workers and draw more funds to this kind of work we all depend on.
